It's definitely a good idea to let my fics sit and cook for a while between writing and posting. I almost always seem to come up with a better idea, or at least a patch to fix the things I wasn't quite happy with, but was willing to let go...

Fic word count at 14000, and I'm in a big blazing hurry to finish it while I still have free time. (oh God this week).

I'll look forward to it whether it takes a while to cook or not. That said, I think perhaps my habit of leaving fics to simmer for years is probably a little excessive..

I know. :) Or patch something that would've been an inconsistency because of something that happens or is said in the next chapter/following scene.

Currently, I writing 2 chapters at once, finished 2 just yesterday, and have the 5th in my head. Things are tying into each other pretty neatly now I'm letting them simmer a bit before posting. (And beta-reading...)


Also, I'm curious what you're writing! X3 I hope it's Empire, hahah.

I made a good amount of progress on E2 while I was travelling, but it was more in the vein of plotting. I finished the substantive outline for arc 2 and sketched out the ending and epilogue, which means I also managed to figure out what I was doing with Rufus' themes :) I also managed to hammer out the flow of arc 2, which was really choppy - like a bunch of random incidents stitched together. There's still a bit of a question mark about what exactly happens in arc 3 before we hit the ending, but that's something I can deal with later :) The fic I've been working on is for another fandom, but once that's out of the way I'm itching to get back to e2.
