crisis_control: (DW - And the streets are bare)
... Is it September already? Which means the last time I felt normal was five months ago? Time does fly, even when you're not having fun...

I might have mentioned that I have this idea for the epic 11th Doctor fic of doom. Thing is, even before the 11th Doctor fic of doom was a gleam in my eye, there was a very rough prototype for the 10th Doctor's fic of doom, that I really wasn't happy with and which really never took off. I've come up with a bunch of random fic ideas which are all tying together pretty spectacularly for that. It's like the fix-it fic of doom. Starring Ten, Ten 2, Martha, Donna, and Rose.

- The very long conversation between Ten and Martha that they really needed to have and really should have had, and which I am doing solely because I need to do a fix-it or I will go on disliking Martha forever.

- The fix-it for Donna, naturally.

- My rather secret OTP of Ten2 and Donna, because I just re-watched Journey's End, and have you seen the way Ten2 smiles at Donna? It's like she lights up his life entirely. (Ten2 is adorable, and so very different from dark!moody!Ten at that point that it's mind-boggling).

- The fix-it between Ten and Ten 2.

- The fix-it for Ten, goddamnit. Because that's what the fic was always supposed to be.

- The fix-it for Waters of Mars, because I love the concept but the execution absolutely did not cut it for me - and I totally want to write the Time Lord Victorious angle.

This being me, it naturally means that I'm going to break all the players before they get their fix-it. And possibly the rest of the universe as well. Should be tons of fun.

So this plot bunny/AU idea hit me (sledgehammer hard) in the middle of the work day while I was up to my eyeballs in a set of trading terms (clearly, I'm one of those people whose attention is permanently all over the map - I had this discussion with my roommate recently about how there is no way I can stop myself from checking a new email the moment it comes in, because if I know it's there, sitting unopened in my mailbox, that thought distracts me far more than Alt-Tabbing over to Outlook to take a quick glance at it, whereas she can let her emails sit and stew and apparently be none the worse for it - anyway, there I go, getting sidetracked again)

So it goes like this.

The Escobar secret was a lot darker and deeper than anyone thought )

So, sudden crazy mad idea of (on the Vorkosigan front) -- what if Simon ended up together with Cordelia? I fully expect that Simon would get the short end of the stick, poor guy. But if there's anyone who can actually deal with getting together with the Chief of ImpSec (and keep him sane despite his job), I would place bets on Cordelia.

And while we're on the subject of crazy mad ideas, on the FF7 fandom front, a random prompt somewhere for Rufus/Aeris latched on despite my best efforts to fend it off, and then an evil enabler friend of mine went - "Tell me more."

This is how it all ends )

There's a lot to be said about user-friendliness for DW - I realised when drafting this entry (writing, not drafting, damnit work) that I don't know how to do an LJ cut on DW, and thought - what's the most logical tag for it, and thought - it must be <cut>. And so I'd just clicked on the help/support link, when I realised that the post page has a link to site-specific markup tags, right in a corner where you'll see it, and that it points you straightway to the information you need. Very impressive.

And the relevant tag is, of course, the most simple and logical thing possible. (And even better - they actually support lj-cut as well). I love how DW just makes sense.
